Who's that girl ? Bollywood inspired hair and makeup to elevate your Indian Ethnic looks

Priyanka Chopra - the golden Bollywood girl giving a run for their money to Hollywood divas has proved it yet again. No beauty in the world can compare with the elegance and grace of an Indian woman in an Indian ensemble.

She is gracing the July cover of the Instyle magazine in an ever so sultry avatar draped in a saree. She paired the saree with her trademark bikini style top that she debuted with her 'Desi Girl' outing almost a decade ago and well, is she still rocking it or what ? The 'no make-up' make up, a matt coral lip and tousled tresses  definately must have burnt more than a few of her competition and with a simple Sabyasachi belt for accessorising, her look does all the talking that is needed.

Not that it needs anymore introduction than the Quantico star, but the saree has a brand new ambassador - Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Who doesn't want to shine as bright as a star like her ? Don't you wish you did ?

But if her look is a tad too daring for you here are other Bollywood divas whose elegant hair and finished-on-point makeup you can pin on your inspiration board to find what works best for your style.

Kareena Kapoor:

This is a lovely look from the Kapoor-Khan lady who is known for outshining every other girl in the room. Her hair is pulled back in a low ponytail which not only shows off her elegant jewelry it also keeps the focus on her floral floor length kurta matched to perfection with her dewy skin skinned make up and peach lip. She chooses to highlight one feature in this feminine look and the smoky eye does the job just right.

Takeaway: Perfect for a day time look, this peaches and cream make up look compliments floral outfits and day time wear. A smoky eye makes sure you don't look washed out and is a great idea to hide tired eyes as well.

Katrina Kaif :

The angrezi memsahib does a perfect modern day Bharatiya naari in this understated look with minimal jewellery and summer appropriate floral print saree and sleeveless blouse. The sleek undone hair add just the right bit of  oomph to her otherwise simple look. The black bindi emphasises that the outfit is still quite traditional, perfect for the modern belle whose roots are Indian.

Takeaway: This is a perfect way to flaunt your healthy mane and achieve a modern day saree look without adding too many accessories that may make you seem overdressed for an occasion like a brunch with your friend circle. The hair worn down add casual appeal while the bindi keeps it all Hindustani.

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja:

The ever elegant Ms. Ahuja loves to look like no one else and in this black quirky number she manages to arrest and awe at the same time. The braided up-do emphasizes her delicate features and goes well with the retro Polka vibe of the outfit. A smoky eye and bold brow compliment the all noir ensemble lending an air of mystery and power to the whole look.

She wears a neutral lip to keep the look classy and the rosy blush on her cheeks adds much needed but balanced hint of color to the entire monochrome  look.

Takeaway: This is a look for one of those days when you have the luxury of time at your disposal to weave magic in your hair. The braided bun elevates and dresses up the retro appeal. The monochrome look is balanced by the subtle use of blush to avoid looking pasty toned.

Kangana Ranaut:

This formal white and gold saree that Kangana wore to the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Indian government breathes class and sophistication and her glowy skinned make up is complimented by a fresh pink toned lip. The wavy faux bob adds just a subtle allusion of vintage allure. She completes the look with a simple liner and a dash of shimmer to the lids and there she is - fresh as a daisy on a hot Delhi summer day.

Take away: This is a great look to add for a day time event and while the wavy bob adds some vintage drama, the shimmery eyelids and fresh pink lips keep it appropriate for a summer time celebration.

Tapsee Pannu:

We already know that she is not just another pretty face in Bollywood and definitely she packs more than a punch; pun intended.  Her clean faced look in this otherwise simple skirt and kurta outfit is completely off the charts because of one tiny detail -and that is the addition of a coordinated printed turban with wavy tresses. The result ? An Indi-boho look that looks straight out of your gypsy dreams.

Takeaway: This Indian-gypsy detail of adding a turban to wavy or tousled  hair is the perfect choice if you want to hide a bad hair day or a bed head and still keep the compliments coming.  Keep the attention to your irreverent turban and go easy on the makeup box.

Jhanvi Kapoor:

A budding style icon is Jhanvi Kapoor and we know the young Turk is not shy of flaunting some skin. The back less blouse may be causing a lot of talk behind her back, but baby she don't care. The low bun with wispy strands adds a feminine and soft look to her strong jaw line and lets the eyes travel to her backless choli.

Takeaway: Whether it is for a festive saree or a lehenga top if you want to let your back do the talking always remember to wear an up do.  A low bun sitting on the nape of the neck flatters most Indian outfits. Pair this with low key make up if you are going with a lot of jewelry to avoid setting off Christmas in July.

A great outfit compliments the wearer when paired with the right make up and hair. And who said that if you are not daring like PC then you have to be boring ?

There is nothing dull about any of these hair and make-up combos and if you don't believe us, wait till your socials are flooded with more compliments and 'likes' than you could handle.
