Going gaga over gorgeous gowns: Western dresses to wow you from Lakme Fashion Week winter 2019

The western gown may not have the versatility and variety that the Indian saree has to offer, but let us admit it; it has its own grace and elegance which flatters a woman when she wears it right.

A well cut gown in a flattering color and the right embellishments is also a good buy because it can last you a few years and you can even wear it in different ways to break the monotony of the usual lehenga or saree routine.

There are a number of functions and events for even Indian Ethnic wearers when they love the ease of a western silhouette and the western look because it is both flattering and occasion appropriate.

Indian designers as well as their clientele are well aware that having a well fitting and beautifully cut gown in the wardrobe makes good fashion sense now a days.

Naturally, in the 2019 Lakme Fashion Week a good number of Indian designed gowns were also noticed and many of them were donned by our Bollywood stars making us turn our heads over and over.

As the undisputed style inspiration for most Indian women, it is only fair that we bear witness to the western outings of these stars and take notes faithfully for our own wardrobe ideas... You can never go wrong when following a tried and tested look any way, right?

So there - here are the best gowns from LFW that stole our hearts and sent our pulse racing making us ask for more with unabashed appreciation - join us as we relive the Best Of The West moments from Lakme Fashion week - 2019.

Satin sizzler: Kareena Kapoor was a radiant dream in her satin one shouldered gown. The beautiful flowy sihoutte and the coral color was feminine and flaterring. The ostentatious bow on one shoulder fell luxuriously in contrast with the other bare shoulder to add delicate charm to the outfit. Kareena wore her hair in a simple low messy bun and her fresh faced make up and coral lips complemented the whole look. We love how she went sans jewelry to let her radiant beauty simmer in the soft glow of the poppy red of the gown and its satin shine.

Shimmering starlet: Disha Patani sizzled demurely in an ash hued sequined wrap around gown with long sleeves and a tulip hem. The plunging neck line and high hem added a feminine softness to the otherwise conservative cut and the whole look was pulled together with a black belt at the waist matched by black strappy sandals. A sure winner on the ramp, though we wish she had done something more with her hair to match the polished sophistication of the dress. No complaints however from her smoky eyes and leggy display.

Black is beautiful: Black is never out of fashion and Rhea Chakraborty wowed in a black gown. The sequined bodice featured a sweatheart neckline and the skirt was adorned with small ruffles - a perfect black gown with all the potential for a Gothic disney princess. However the simple hair and make up with absolutely no drama to play with the black hue and the princess cut was a downer. We say - pair this number with a leather buckled choker and an intricate plait if you want to make the best of this monochrome number. What say you ?

Silver serenade: This beautifully detailed silver gown with a plunging sweatheart neckline was donned by Urvashi Rautela and we loved the beautiful chevron embroidery and the soft silver dazzle of this flared gown. The flowy cape is a lovely addition and just lets you imagine being a modern Indian bride attending her reception in this dress.

However we are not feeling the vibe of the overdone smoky eye that Urvashi has gone for. Panda eyes are best left to the pandas, right?

Polka princess: So, no, we are not cheating, yes, this is not a look from the ramp, but something Kangana Ranaut slipped into post her stint as a showstopper, for a major designer, so this is very much a look from the LFW 2019.

OK ! OK ! the truth is this lovely chiffon frock with red polka print on fresh pink is a look we just don't think you should miss.

Isn't she a lovely vision with the matching red belt and pointed pumps. The sleek vintage styled hair is a sure winner with the vintage frock silhouette and it only takes you a moment to fully appreciate that Kanagana goes for a nude lip keeping the look together and fresh. A red lip would be the undoing of this otherwise fresh, feminine and fun outfit. This is how we love it, girly and fresh !

So, what kind of a gown look caught your fancy ? The slow sizzle of Kareena, or the fresh bloom of Kangana ? or wait, are you thinking about the shimmering sophistication of Disha's look?

Well whatever be your fancy, we know you are sure going to get your hands on one of these lovely looks - and no one will accuse you of cheating on your Indian Ethnic Wear wardrobe... go ahead.. and wear whatever you want !
