Lakme Fashion Week Highlights 2018

The much-coveted Lakme Fashion Week portraying an array of flamboyant fashionable styles on the runway concluded recently in Mumbai, India. We were left enthralled with the several depictions of traditional couture mixed with lots of modernity and presented in a glamorous way. Here are some of the best looks we loved straight from the runways of Lakme Fashion Week.

Sania Mirza

The National Badminton player turned fashion diva aced as a showstopper as she walked the runway with panache in a dreamy rose and champagne-hued bridal lehenga drape. What caught our attention was the designer blouse with a flared tulle skirt that reflected the essence of a princess. Sania looked no less than a stunning sensation and her equally sizzling lehenga drape got us gaping in awe. Pastels are totally ruling the runway and are definitely here to stay.

Disha Patani

The 20-something beauty kissed the runway at Lakme Fashion Week welcoming the spring in her step with pretty white ruffled floor-sweeping gown. Contemporary Indian dresses with a touch of fairy fable. We love how effortless trail captivates and uplifts the entire look with a spring in her step and glam in the air.

Bipasha Basu

The Bengali dusty diva Bipasha Basu conquered the runway in an uber-glam fuchsia pink one shoulder kurta and flared skirt. The bright pink hued ethnic ensemble stole the limelight. However, the gorgeous cuts, rich embroidery and embellishments worked up their magic on the elegant silhouette. It seems like the traditional work embroidery is here to stay. We love the tassels falling on the attire exuding the whimsical charm and indeed the one-shoulder kurta is a modern take on ethnic couture.

Diya Mirza

The luxe gold and cream embroidered heavy silk Kanjivaram saree looks resplendent on Dia’s hourglass figurine. She stands tall in a glorious saree which is a work of art and preserved as the heritage heirloom. Paired with a rich red full-sleeve blouse, it adds a striking appearance with oodles of grandeur and royalty.

Aditi Rao Hyadri

We’re the connoisseurs of sheer art and nothing spells majestic than Hyadri’s poise and her paneled with applique work delicate champagne-hued lehenga choli. A perfect fit for bridesmaids on cocktails or mehendi events, this exotic detailed couture is indeed a must-have in every woman’s wardrobe. Floral motifs encapsulating the entire twirl of the lehenga while a light-weight nesh net white dupatta draped over it steals our attention all over again.

Sushmita Sen

Here comes the real showstopper and our heart-stealer Sushmita Sen who rocked the runway with her captivating moves and profound expressions. Sashaying the runway, her cream chikankari embroidered lehenga choli gave us major bridal goals. The dreamy cream lehenga with a full-twirling skirt with intricate embroidery and embellishments got our hearts racing. A wonderful melange of chikankari with heavy embroidered work net dupatta aced her glorious look instantly.

Karishma Kapoor

Kapoor’s have it in their blood, the passion for fashion and the attitude to slay it right. Karishma has loon been known for her statement-worthy luxe looks, hitting the mark with her gorgeous and glam styles, her Instagram feed gives us everyday fashion inspiration. Bowling us at the Lakme Fashion Week in a quirky bridesmaid couture, she chose to wear a floral blouse with a plain simple off-white lehenga with floral detailing. The sheer net dupatta with statement-worthy embroidery further added dimension to her fresh floral look. This is a perfect melange for a young, zealous bridesmaid to twirl around in joy and spread the happy vibes around.

Just a correction, Dia Mirza is wearing an Assam silk Mekhela Sador with golden thread work designed by Sanjukta Dutta. And the motifs are woven not embroidered. This particular kind is worn by brides during the wedding ritual.
